Calling all Pinatas and Stuffed Animals

Serving Our Soldiers at Dallas First UMC has two amazing opportunities to support our soldiers on the front lines, and children of soldiers here at home who are recovering from battle wounds at Veterans Hospitals.
We have recently been contacted by an Army Chaplain stationed in Iraq requesting pinatas for Iraqi children. In his words.."When Iraqi's see we love their children they take our names off the kill infidel list." Please help support SOS as we purchase pinatas and ship them to Baghdad.
Our second opportunity to say thanks is through a program called "Little Warriors." They are collecting stuffed animals for children of wounded servicemembers recovering at Walter Reed and other hospitals around the country. SOS is now collecting NEW 12-18" stuffed animals for this program (NO beanie baby's please) and quite possibly hand delivering them to local GA base hospitals. For more information about "Little Warriors" visit www.thethankyoufoundation.org
Thank you in advance for your contributions! You can place donated pinatas and stuffed animals in the SOS barrels or in the church office.
Monetary donations can be made to DFUMC, memo: SOS Pinatas, or memo: SOS Little Warriors.
Any questions please contact Lisa Wahle, lbwahle@hotmail.com or 770-505-0881

Letter from Soldier

Hello SOS,
Thank you and God Bless the SOS. You guys have really exceeded all of my expectations. I have received 3 more packages since I last wrote. I really appreciate your thoughts, prayers, and thoughtfulness. I even read the programs and see my name amongst the deployed soldier prayer list. I must say that everyone's prayers are definitely working. I am over half-way through my tour and have not been involved in any serious incidents. I am on my third duty location and have not had to fight. As a matter of fact, the Iraqi people I have met have been very nice and polite.
Thank you Dallas First and the SOS!
Sincerely,
LTC Curt Grayer
